Now I Have Happy Feet!
Fri, 06/27/2008 - 11:36 — RaineyI have to tell you about my new favorite game. You become a penguin as you rock back and forth on an iceberg trying to get the fish. It might be the eating part of it that I like, or that my Mii looks really cute as a penguin, but it's a blast. We have been having challenges as to who is the best fisher. I'm actually amazed that you really do want to play these games with your kids. – and keep challenging them to see who can get the highest scores.

Developing an Exercise Fan Base
Fri, 06/27/2008 - 11:36 — RaineySeriously, ladies, forget doing step class at the gym. It will never satisfy you again. After being applauded by an auditorium of hundreds of clapping Miis, a regular step class just won't have the same appeal. The routine was easy once I figured out to watch the feet instead of the horned guy next to me. Yea, what's up with that hairdo or is Satan's bro taking my step class? And, there is this one Picasso-esqe character with glasses but his eyes are on the sides of his head. Soooooo, how are those glasses working for ya since your eyes are nowhere near the frames? At the beginni

Tightrope Walking
Fri, 06/27/2008 - 11:35 — RaineyOkay, what kind of sick joke is this? I am doing the tightrope walker. And, if you take a wrong step, you fall to your death. Okay, so they don't show that part – just your flailing arms as you drop from fifty stories into a black hole. My kids are laughing their little tushies off and I'm thinking, this is not the kind of "togetherness" I had envisioned. Never one to leave a challenge on the table, I try again – this time only to be eaten by the "angry claws of death." Yea, no kidding – someone had the bright idea that the tightrope walker needed a bigger

My Trainer Approves!!
Fri, 06/27/2008 - 11:35 — RaineyToday, I worked on the balance and strength exercises. There are some that are really good. I could feel my little ab muscles tightening. I say, "little" and I mean it – abs of steal, I am not. But, I have to tell you the most exciting thing happened today – my trainer clapped for me! I was so proud. I got two perfect scores. My panda bruised ego thinks, "Maybe, I'm going to like this, after all."

Travel Soccer
Fri, 06/27/2008 - 11:34 — RaineyI have to tell you that someone in their programming department has a sick sense of humor. We played the soccer game today and I, literally, was screaming as first soccer balls were hurled at my face – then they ramped it up a notch with cleats and panda heads (which when they are coming at you at 50 mph look remarkably similar to soccer balls). When a cleat hits you in the face, you only lose one point, but if a panda whacks you, you lose three points. And, they are flying from every direction – it's like the other team has ten arms and they are all trying to nail you at once.

Out of The Box
Fri, 06/27/2008 - 11:34 — RaineyOkay, I have to come clean -- I am NOT a 20-something gaming fan. So, when I was asked to test the Wii Fit and write about the fitness games, I was a little skeptical. Fitness and strength training from a video game? (Say in your best Brooklyn accent) Who ya kidding? But, I had seen my two boys literally pouring sweat from a boxing game. So, I agreed and told Doug I was "game."

Victory Laps Around My Balance Board and the 'Happy Song'
Fri, 06/27/2008 - 11:29 — zarupeeI am determined to teach that boy some manners, so the next morning, "bright and early" I "rise and shine." I am getting good at shining. I turn on the soccer game and try to nicely explain the rules of the game, but again, the same rude panda boy shows up, but this time I swerve like a car on that crooked street in San Francisco and he can not touch me. I am now having fun taunting him "Na-Na-Na-Na-Na!" And, when the game is over, the happy music comes on and I do a "victory lap" around my balance board. I forgot to mention that yesterday, my

Warning: Flying Cleats and Panda Heads
Fri, 06/27/2008 - 11:29 — zarupeeAfter my "Day of rest" (Hey, even the "Big Man" – "our Father who art in heaven" takes those), I am "ready to roll" so decide to try the aerobic section. You, humans, do strange exercises – on my planet throwing shoes at someone is not exercise, it's rude. Well, I am trying to play a soccer game thinking I will be kicking, passing, all the 36 moves I have been practicing to succeed on your planet. And, what is the soccer game about?

'Z' The Wii Warrior
Fri, 06/27/2008 - 11:28 — zarupeeI cannot move. I have worked parts of my body I did not know existed. You have a saying of a "Weekend Warrior" as someone who works out only on the weekends and really pushes themselves. I have been a Wii Warrior and do not recommend it. As the turtle said to the hare, "nice and easy wins the race." I agree or, like Mii, you will not be able to run.
